Innovative Natural Solutions of Shungite & EM-technology for Water Purification (SHEM-WP)

SHEM-WP – project test and develop innovative, chemical free filters for increasing removal of nutrients, metals and other impurities in storm waters and constructed wet land waters before they reach water body. Solution is based on EM-technology and shungite-mineral from Petrozavodsk, Russia. EM is effective micro-organism, which don’t participate itself in purification/removal process, but it promotes environment itself for it.

In this project EM and shungite are combined in different matrixes and tested in different environments. Two test sites are in Lappeenranta and four in St. Petersburg, Russia. Target is to develop and test filters up to 3^rd generation. Project is mostly funded by South-East Finland – Russia CBC 2014-2020 program.
